Default A quest in finding a Horn Bow or its equivalent

During a PvP event, I was asked to arm with a sundering Horn bow. I would like to ask from the helpful experience players who often find a good Horn bow or its equivalent for its frequent locations. Or any other method to obtain a good Horn bow or its equivalent beside from the collectors.

Before I cause any further misunderstanding, I am not asking which bows are suitable for PvP, for those who read the title instead of the content of the post from my last thread: http://guildwarsguru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3009266, I asked if there are any other ways to obtain the Horn Bow or its equivalent (such as a green bow, as they usually look more appealing) beside from the collectors, as their appearance is un-pleasant to me. But instead, I was suggested to read another thread with detail information about which bows to use, which does not answer my question.

I'd like to also address that, the search engine is often disable due to high overload, and this usually would last throughout the night from my experience.

I hope the community is still aimed to be helpful and would share their personal experience to support each other, rather then prioritize casual dismissals.

well... there are three "skins" to Hornbows... the "Dragon-Headed", "Mursaat Horn" and "Flesh Horn"

you can find the "Dragon-Headed" almost anywhere... try farming the Griffons and Mino's in the desert... they drop em' a lot

"Mursaat Horns" only drop off of Mursaat and Jades... only place i think you can farm them reasonably fast is at the beginning of the RoF mission

"Flesh Horns" drop off of White Mantle and those dudes outside of Ember Light Camp... think there called Flesh Golems...

note, Ivory Bows and Shadow Bows perform the same as Horns.

With FoW chest running being what it is, you can find a decent shadow bow for relatively cheaper than its horn bow counterparts. That being said I have a few shadow bows from chest running that you can have if you want them. PM me in game on My Plug in Baby or Shrinking Universe evenings on EST US to take your pick.

I often see Mursaat Horns drop in Ice Floe (reached from Marhan's Grotto or THK)

Sorry, but you're wrong. As was said, Shadow bows are a Hornbow equivalent. The only Shortbow equivalent besides the Shortbow itself is the Halfmoon.

I really like the look of the Ivory bow. It's a Horn equivalent, and they're not incredibly expensive.

Slightly off topic but I've been wondering...
Is a sundering string on a horn bow really worth the effort?

Also you could probably check the trade forums to see if anyone has posted a horn bow that fits your fancy to bid on.

There are huge threads about the debate over sundering strings, but basically, if you want to do as much dmg as possible, go with a vamp string.

I must agree with archon. they #1 do 5 more damage (u can always take ur chances of 10% AP =p) and #2 they give u 5 hp. This is amazing for barrage builds or builds with short bows that shoot fast or those 1/4 and 1/2 shots.

I had Situations when my Vamp String even did damage while my normal bow attack didn't: Hit something with Mist Form on (e.g. Eidolon)

Use a Vamp short bow. Fire up Read the Wind followed by Tigers Fury. Ohhh, the pain!

Vampiric is not considered damage, so Mist Form can't prevent Vampiric.

I'd gladly go with you to the training camp of Balthazar Temple to show you the range of my shadow bows on the practice targets... However, you're right about the firing speed.

I used to use shadow bows all the time for Barrage builds (cause like everyone else I though them better) and they do not share the same range as Short bows.
